I respect your answer, but I’d say it’s on the players. A coach, interim or not, can only do so much to motivate grown men. That’s on them as to how much effort they give. I’ll go a little further and say what I haven’t heard anyone say: they’re losing without saying they’re losing for better draft position. Or, they’ve checked out. It’s not going to help much, but what, at this point, will winning do? Just my two cents
