Aaron Glenn and the Saints: Smart Hire or Familiar Misstep? (merged)
It does not matter to me whether the coach comes from the offensive or defensive side of the ball. If we had a young quarterback picked high in the draft to develop, I would favor a creative offensive coach, but we don't. Rattler has some talent and could develop, but in all probability, he is not our quarterback of the future.
I do not know or know enough about Aaron Glenn so it is unfair for me to judge him on his leadership. My concern is complacency given his relationships in the building--that he will not say this team ranks near the bottom in the league and will shy away from expressing views that will reflect badly on what the Saints as an organization have been doing. For starters, I think we need someone with no ties to this organization who will be brutally honest in his assessment of the team's personnel and organization. In short, because of his years in New Orleans, I am afraid that a Glenn hiring will provide a bit of comfort to management and ownership. I am terrified of the team hiring Dennis Allen lite.
