Cam Jordan = Rickey Jackson.....?

Well, putting aside the "feelings" involved, the one big difference is Jackson was a free agent. Jordan is not, and in fact cutting Jordan costs the Saints cap space and does not save cap space (that's true for both pre or post June 1). So Jordan himself doesn't have a direct say. That's why most assume that if Jordan is done, he will restructure his deal to help the Saints.

Now, there's obviously other factors that can come into play. Costing cap space is one thing, but actual cash flow payment is another. The organization can save millions cutting Jordan, even if the cap space is harmed. And there are other factors that could come into play if Jordan truly wants out (and a trade is an option which does facilitate a small savings if post-6/1, but would a team give up a pick, even a 7th...who knows).

It's not as simple as Jackson's path was is all I'm saying. I'm in no way predicting Jordan will be back with the Saints, but there's a lot of considerations that must be made due to the cap situation the team is in and what a new coach may or may not find valuable.
Speaking of the contract issue I saw the other day where the Dolphins (had they been eliminated) were going to cut Calais Cambell lose to chase that ring, latch on with a playoff bound team to end this season.

I get the sentiment but that will set a dangerous precedent in the league if it starts happening, imo.

As for Jordan, it would make me sad but I’d certainly understand. Read in an Underhill article that he will play next season even if it’s not in New Orleans. His words.
