What annual task do you hate the most?
We’re in the middle of it right now - I’m taking a break. Outside is all me which is fine - it takes me about 2 hours to decorate the exterior of the house by myself. A few of my neighbors and I chip in a few bucks to rent a boom lift for a day and we each take turns on the high parts of our homes. Then everything else is pretty simple. Taking everything down outside is even simpler.
Inside - well, it’s beautiful. My wife decorates for a couple of days while I’m at work and then we do the tree together. While it looks amazing, much of it is delicate glass and stuff and it seemingly takes forever to repackage and then store all this stuff properly. I hate it and we’re thankfully wrapping it up now.
When we lived in Louisiana, our home was 50% brick and 40% vinyl siding, and 10% stucco. I hated the 40% because it required pressure-washing and of course, the siding sat at the highest parts of the house. I hated it - when we were house-searching here in Ohio, my dealbreaker was all brick. I didn’t want to see an ounce of vinyl siding anywhere and while it took 6 months to find an all brick house, I am happier for it.
Last thing - while not annual, interior wall painting of any kind, small or large job, anytime of the year at any period of my life. HATE IT.
