Vehicle plows into crowd on Bourbon St., with 14 fatalities

He’s dead so I guess we may never know… but what did he think was going to happen when he went barreling down Bourbon street on one of the biggest party nights of the year? If the intent was to blow some ish up in a coordinated attack, you go down there quietly and inconspicuously. If you go barreling down the street running people over with cops literally everywhere, there’s a high probability your plan will be foiled. Like clearly this was not well thought out nor mitigations for risks considered at all.

I mean, I’m glad that his plan was foiled & that he got lit up, as it would have ended much worse but sometimes I just wonder if these criminals put any thought into their plans at all.
I guess what I’m getting at is that I feel like most of these fools must want to be caught because they are not thinking these things out or covering their tracks at all. We literally know who people are within a day of them committing a crime or they end up getting killed in the act.
The whole point of a terror attack is to make a splash and draw lots of attention. Going incognito won't draw the response you want. It's possible that the explosives were part of a secondary attack.

It goes like this...

Truck barrels down Bourbon
Gunman exits vehicle and inflicts max damage
He blows the truck on the way out
Secondary attacker watches from safe hotel
Secondary attacker detonates as people are responding to injured.

It's a well known tactic.
