In an average draft, there’s usually around 12 to 15 bonafide true blue chip 1st RD talents. Which means picking in the top 10 usually mean you getting a franchise level talent at the position youre drafting. Unfortunately, this isnt one of those years.
This year, 2025, literally has like 8, maybe 10 of those guys. So if youre picking where we are, or in the teens, youre settling on a propsect who in anyother year would more than likely be a Day 2 guy. That being said, this draft happens to be loaded w/positions that we desperately need, EDGE, IDL, IOL, SAF, RB, TE & possession WR. The true value of this draft is between pick 25 & 100. Im pretty sure the FO & whoever we bring in as our HC will be well aware of this fact.
I would personally trade back multiple times to try & land us in the 20s, or maybe even out of the 1st RD completely. Loading up on Day 2 & future draft picks would/should be the focus. This way, we’d be picking at the strongest point of this draft, all while arming us w/more premium pick in the future to reload our roster w/talent.
But…if we end up picking where we are, id go w/Josh Simmons OT Ohio St. Had Simmons not been injured all season, he’d be the top rated OL in this draft & a legit top 5 prospect. Media outlets have been reporting that Simmons is recovering ahead of schedule & he’s projected to be cleared by the start of training camp. Drafting him would allow us to either move Tali back to RT, or have Simmons compete w/Penning to start on the right side.
