Do you have ambition to live or retire abroad?

Have been contemplating this now for a while. The wife would have a really hard time being away from our girls and eventual grandkids and I probably too a bit.
I think it's a given we are out LA upon retirement.

My sister and BiL found 30 acres with a farm, tilapia ponds and 3 separate houses in Costa Rica and have begun the process of purchase. They of course invited us, but too soon. She works in IT world so remote work for her is abundant. And I don't know if I could live in total seclusion from the outside world on a mountain side. Sounds inviting but I do crave connecting with people.

We are headed to Italy and Greece this summer and I suspect we will get yet another taste of simple life and how enjoyable it is. It truly is remarkable how laid back and relaxed life can be outside US.

I'd love to, but think it's a pipe dream because wife simply wouldn't have it away from the kids.

@CapitalCitySaint ...in 2022 my sis and BiL split up with us and went to Ascona, (where our Grandmother was from ) which is just 20 miles from Swiss/Italian border and 25 from Bellagio. Maybe 10,000 residents, but the photos they sent, and the descriptions they gave sound just like Bellagio.

Who knows, maybe 15 years my wife will come around and be more receptive to the idea, but for now, I can only dream lol.
