Vehicle plows into crowd on Bourbon St., with 14 fatalities

Why do we have such a hard time doing this? Is it just human nature to want to try to make sense of things?
I think it’s a “if I can rationalize it, I can make it make sense, if I can make it make sense, then I can cope with it” mechanism

Seems ultimately self defeating in these sorts of circumstances though


Unrelated, I was thinking about the derails last night - it’s almost like a real life trauma response, isn’t it? If we were all sitting around the dinner table or something, little tangents of levity would start breaking off as everyone starts to process what happened.
