Ultimately these incidents usually have the same answers as ‘why did Katrina hit us’

And similarly that question can be used as a distraction from the actual answerable questions like ‘why did Katrina impact us so much’

Unrelated, I was thinking about the derails last night - it’s almost like a real life trauma response, isn’t it? If we were all sitting around the dinner table or something, little tangents of levity would start breaking off as everyone starts to process what happened.
Once the bulk of information is out there, news comes in drips and drabs
I think the derails are the idle chatter that happens waiting for more news
