That's true and that is the risk he seems willing to take. But I don't think him declining certain opportunities means he has a massive ego. It just means that it'll take more than just any offer to pull him away from the great gig he has now. Not everyone needs to climb the ladder that fast just to get fired in 2-3 years.

He could go to what he thinks is the perfect situation, get fired, then want to come here as OC or HC. It's never good to burn bridges. Payton did interview with the Raiders even though Parcells advised him not to take the job. And he didn't sit out two cycles even though we weren't the perfect situation. He wanted the Packers job but still took this one when he didn't get it.
