Your point from what I got is that Payton and Gruden's system is basic compared to Reid's and the others you mentioned. I don't agree, Reid's system is not compared to Payton's. SP from the time he became HC was an innovator , subbing out whole skill player packages. SP even adapted later in his time here to more short passing game
In those early years, Payton included some innovation, yes. Using a big WR (Colston) in the slot, switching out packages nearly every play, developing a creative array of screens. These were all staples of Payton’s offense that wreaked havoc for several seasons. But now these innovations have become commonplace.

These days the innovators are the guys I mentioned, including Reid. I can’t see how anyone can watch a Chiefs game and not plainly observe how creative the offensive design is. If you can’t watch that and agree, I’m obviously not going to convince you with a message board post.
