That’s what scares me about him. I can see that happening all over again. Including the stupid drafting but for him he would trade up in the first to take a QB from somewhere like App State that no one ever heard of before.

Retread coaches only ever work when you have a skill that makes you an elite coach. Like Sean Payton and Andy Ried with the play calling or an administrator like Parcells or Belichick. Gruden has none of that he can make stupid sounds and say crazy things that translates right?

I'd hire a young unknown coach before hiring Gruden. Gruden is at best only going to get you mediocrity which is the reason we fired DA. If you can't get one of the top guys just take a chance on a young unknowns like Brady, Moore, or Kafka. They will either flame out which will give you the picks to rebuild and get a QB high or they exceed expectations and turn out great. There just isn't any reason to tread water for 3 years with Gruden when you can take a lottery ticket on a young unproven coach.

And if that young unproven coach is a disaster, Loomis goes and we rebuild the team from the ground up. Gruden is only going to at best prolong the 7 to 9 win seasons and will have some worse seasons depending on injuries. Gruden just isn't the answer to anything.

I don’t disagree at all it’s a wasted hire at this stage he brings nothing to the table. You know exactly what you’re going to get your going to hover around .500. Maybe at best luck into the playoffs as a junk division winner or if the NFC is weak the last wild card slot. That’s your best result. Your worst result? You might be picking first overall.
If we have choices we take the others if we got no one then we look at him. It’s sad we have fallen into this state but it’s what it is.

I will keep harping on this money talks. Sure our roster and cap are a mess but if you throw crazy money up you can get someone you want. We blow it on guys past their prime all the time why not spend it on a top flight coach? The NFL isn’t like the NBA coaching matters in this league. You find someone with some stones behind him to run a team the right way and has attention to details no matter how small you can right the ship real quick.
