Should Rattler be our starter in 2025? (merged)

Yeah. Was extremely worried about this roster going into the season.

We have a lot of bad players that fanboys keep telling us are good like Ruiz, Werner, Johnson. Players we are paying for their production from several years ago like Mathieu and Jordan. And holes where no good players exist at all RB2, WR3, Safety 2, LG, NT, run stuffing LB, DE, blocking TE. List goes on. This is a bad roster where many of our starters would be on other team's practice squads.

Kamara is the only expensive player earning his money. The rest are all expensive 3rd stringers.

They proved all my worst fears correct. Injuries just had it happen even earlier.
Agreed. I was also very worried about the offense going into the season and I didn't trust the first two games either, but admittedly I was beginning to wonder if Carmichael was solely to blame. We had a rookie at LT, turnstiles at Guard and what looked to be a bust at RT. Plus no better than #2's at TE or WR with no depth at RB behind AK. Taysom obviously is Taysom, but he was 34 years old and wasn't going to play more than 35% of the snaps. None of that has changed as we sit here today.

The defense was supposed to carry this team in 2024 because nobody believed the offense would be anywhere close to good enough. I felt like we were going to have to keep other teams in the teens to have a shot and we didn't do that often enough. The pass rush was non existent, our once all pro level linebacker showed his age for the first time and our DBs couldn't cover forever without the guys in front of them doing enough.

Having done that postmortem, I still haven't mentioned the QB and that's because I don't think any QB we had was going to do much under that scenario. Carr simply isn't a difference maker that can make up for the poor talent around him. Can he do more than Rattler? At times he can and does. But I also saw Rattler get more out of some guys than Carr was. So it's a wash there for me.
