Saints expected to be very interested in former Packers/Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy [Rapoport: Interview to be early next week]

I feel like most of the people hating on McCarthy are doing so because a.) he has the stain of the Cowboys star on him, and b.) because he’s a long time coach with “only” one ring, and is deemed overall as a boring guy personality-wise.

The guy’s results as a team leader and program facilitator are remarkable though, akin to Sean Payton.

As Saints fans, we should all be well aware by now just how fragile a season could be and how sometimes, many times, acts outside of your control dictate whether or not you advance regularly in the playoffs.

Hell, even the year we won our only Super Bowl, do we get there if the Redskins’ kicker doesn’t miss a chip shot FG which eventually helped us get homefield advantage, or the ball doesn’t keep bouncing our way in the NFC title game, or we don’t win a literal OT coin flip in said title game?

Look at how often a candidate wins as the barometer, not championships.

Now, if we do find ourselves in a predicament where we keep getting there under him and losing in round 1, then we assess it then, but for now, give me the guy that manages to keep getting double digit win seasons.
It's because some people would rather be entertained than win. It's that " Go for it" . "Swing for the fences" mentality. But's it's the singles, double and sometimes triples that win championships.

And it's not just fans. I like Underhill and agree with him a lot but the kind of fascination with Brady I don't get. He's been an OC total of 3 seasons and bombed in the 1st 1 1/2. Plus he's had maybe the best QB in the league to work with along with a good WR corps and a very good RB. It's like Nick wants a shiny new toy to cover even though no one has any idea if he's HC material.

Maybe it's because no one's JOB is on the line with the next HC hire. Not Nick or any other so called sports reporter or any fan. I've heard things like " Let's just hire Rizzi for a yr and if he does not work out dump him" Even from the writers!!! Yup , that's going to make our organization a VERY attractive destination for a top HC SMH.

If KC would have fired Reid after only 1 playoff win in 2016 I'll bet a lot of these same people would have been saying the same thing about Reid that they are about McCarthy , only worse because he had not won a SB yet
