Despite Bad Stretch of Games, Sam Darnold's Market is Still North of $30M Per Year, According to James Palmer

Pat on Moving the Chains suggested a contract offer in the range of two years, $50m, with incentives if he can continue to produce and keep the starting job. I think that's about right.
I could see that. Will be interesting to see what he thinks his value will be on the market.

Darnold is in odd spot, this really only his first good year of production and slumped at the end.

The flip of this the league doesn’t have enough quality starters for all 32 teams as it is. This means the mid level starters like him (Carr is another) will get looks and dollars if for no other reason than there are worse alternatives.

That shouldn’t be confused with anything other than what he and others are: starters only because the team doesn’t have a better alternative. The Vikes were planning on him being the starter, it was more of a happy accident he played as well as he did.
