This is exactly why McCarthy was fired, again.

This continues to be incorrect. It’s widely reported the two sides had talks to work out an extension and couldn’t reach an agreement, so his contract wasn’t renewed. A team doesn’t negotiate with a coach they don’t have some interest in retaining.
