A major roadblock to the Saints coaching search could be Derek Carr

You cant cut Lawrence next season. He's have a 88M dead cap hit. You are stuck with him until at least 2028.

Carr is SIGNIFICANTLY better than anyone on the Jets or raiders and its not even close. Yes they draft before us, but I don't think a QB is feasible for them, unless they want to hire Prime as HC or have him having significant influence over what that do. They may not even have that option. Titans, Browns, and Giants all pick before Jets or Raiders, and all 3 need a QB.

Look Im not arguing with that. Carr is likely here 1 more year at most. And none of those 3 teams are suddenly going to become contenders in 1 year. To me all 3 teams are rebuilding and playing for 26 and beyond. So yes, right now, Carr is the best qb on those 3 teams. But he is a bridge to whats next.

When you factor in where the teams are currently, the current QBs, and the cap space and draft picks - I just dont see any of the 3 teams being in a better situation at QB than the others. All 3 have their futures tied up into decisions and picks they havent made yet at the QB position.

But yes. Carr, as average as he might be, the best QB on those 3 teams by a pretty good bit. Does it matter though if all 3 teams are rebuilding for 26?
