True, but it doesn't change the fact that he is going to have to hire a good OC because he does not call offensive plays or design offenses or that if he is successful he is going to have to keep hiring good OCs every few years. Doesn't mean a team shouldn't hire him, but it is something to consider.

I personally think that his leadership would probably overcome those things, but it is an issue with any defensive coach.
No doubt, but the reverse is also true. Whoever hires Ben Johnson will have to reconcile with the reality that in the best of worlds, they'll have a constant cycle of DCs coming and going.

All I'm saying is I want a CEO for a head coach who can provide broad direction and accountability to every phase of the game, including roster management.
