It’s the same reason that if Deuce McAllister went into coaching and found himself to be a hot coaching candidate that he’d chose us over the Cowboys…it means something to these guys to go back to where they were stars to coach.
That’s some destiny/fate/“will of the football gods” type stuff you don’t mess with if you get the opportunity.
That does make sense. Although it wasn’t like some legit legacy. I mean they made the playoffs 2 times in 8 years and were one of the bottom teams in the league 3 of those seasons.
I do get how it means something, Herm Edwards probably meant a lot to him too. So it would mean something to go pay honor to a coach he probably really really respects.
