New Walmart Logo

They are not the same thing, but there is something to say about the parallel between the 2 types of people who do both online.

And as general comment to the thread:
It's not a new logo, it is a redesign/update, but the headline says it is 'new' and that you too (the general you) must mock it so you could be cool too.

The redesign looks better; it has brighter colors, thicker lines... there is a bit of psychological marketing at play here, even if people don't like to think they are susceptible to it... and yes, people get paid for work like this; you could get paid for work like this too if you knew how to use Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape and deliver the parameters that will ensure the logo will look exactly the same no mater where or how it is printed.

Now Walmart, never set foot in one, never will.

Fair . . . but the company called it a "comprehensive brand refresh!"

I think overplayed marketing and branding are justifiably mocked. Marketing is one of those areas where the professionals involved sometimes think they can manipulate human behavior - which maybe they can at times, but also we're on good ground to laugh and point at their arrogance when they miss.
