Payton on being one of the least injured teams in the NFL

Mike has the resume but at this point of his career does he have the fire in the belly? (aside from alot of twinkies). He lived off Rodgers in GB. In Dallas he had a talented roster built by Will McClay and Stephen Jones, so and the playoff herpa derpa offsets his regular season success. Granted, Jerry killed the Cowboys 2024 season by unnecessarily making CeeDee Lamb hold out all trainjng camp, and, choosing to get Zeke back (Dak's bud) instead of going all-out for arguably their last piece of the puzzle, Derrick Henry.

Cooper Rush is a solid backup but let's not get seduced by Cooper Rush or a team playing freely because they are eliminated by mid-season.

If we hire McCarthy, we'll enjoy the honeymoon period, but after that, I think he's a mediocre safe lazy hire for our safe lazy GM. I get Mike Ditka vibes.

Loomis' son Alex has been the Cowboys' pro scouting director since 2017. Mickey has an inside ear (and likely a bias) on McCarthy's tenure with player eval and development.

My choices for coach:

(1) A younger offensive coordinator, like Sean Payton was in 2006. Ranked: Brady, Coen,
Kingsbury (very risky personality)

(2) Aaron Glenn but that may be slipping away understandably.

(3) retread McCarthy
If Sean still has fire so does Mike. We all know great coaching gets you to the playoffs, but elite talent wins playoff games. (Both Sean and Mike enjoyed an elite QB) Mike Ditka vibes is simply false. Then Sean Payton is also Mike Ditka for the Broncos. The Loomis' son thing has me concerned, are we not in a rush to get Mike becasue of him or is it becasue we hired 2 more cooks in the kitchen, and now we have stalemates and delays? (i have no answer) Mike earned the right to not be meddled with, but yet Jones did just that. So here his ceiling would be higher. (of course our cap situation lowers that ceiling)

Your choice, a younger coach like Sean Payton, how about the real thing in Mike Mcarthy? As i said before, i think Glenn is more prepared than Ben Johnson, so id roll with him next. If it plays out like this: Jets/Glenn Raiders/Ben Chicago/Mike Dallas/Deon/Moore Jax/Coen. Then that leaves us with Brady/Rizzi/Kings. At this point, id say screw it, lets just get someone new for new-ness sake and go with Brady. Brady can probably develop Rattler as a hybrid pocket/mobile Qb. Kingsbury doesnt seem like hes dying to get out of Wash. (and hes already failed) Rizzi wont be an option, because you don't hire 2 additional GMs then run it back. (it wouldnt be logical) My whole motivation is to get to being able to beat Sean Payton/Reid/Harbaugh bros at their best, as quickly as possible. Mike does this next year.
