Jordan Schultz: Bears Job is a Two-Horse Race Between Mike McCarthy and Ben Johnson

It would say a lot, but I really don't see Brady, Kingsbury, Moore, and Kafka all turning down the job. I get that it's not perfect, but it is an NFL HC job and if you want a solid QB, Carr is a solid QB. He makes too much money next year, but he's still a top 15 QB if a coach wants to start at that point. There is always the Broncos route where you go with Carr this year, cut him next year, and then draft a QB. And we have the building blocks of an OL and WR corps. We don't have the young QB in the draft route at this point, but neither did Denver.

I also think that all these young OCs might look at Ben Johnson, but Ben Johnson is apparently about to take the Raiders job after refusing what turned out to besome solid to good jobs last year. And they could all turn into Bobby Slowik really quickly.
It was suggested Moore would go to Dallas, and Kingsbury is already getting paid HC money through 2026 due to the contract extension he signed with the Cardinals before being fired.

That leaves Brady, who is almost certain to have more opportunities next year because Allen has been good under all three OC’s he has played for.

We can say Carr is a top ___ QB, but we would have to have at least some doubt if every offensive option passes on us.
