Jordan Schultz: Bears Job is a Two-Horse Race Between Mike McCarthy and Ben Johnson

That's a valid point, but you know why we hired the deer, that decision was made, and we went through the motions. We fired our coach mid-season, so the candidate dossiers should be mostly complete. I disagree with the interview part with Glenn because he was in our building; you probably have more intel on him than anyone. I can understand McCarty was 20 years ago. I've served on a few job search committees in my current job, and usually, an interview just confirms what's on paper between the person's CV (resume) and references. I'm not saying these guys need to be hired tomorrow; the process is not complicated, considering we knew we would be here three months ago.

Even if you know a guy, you still need to know how he plans to fix the issues you have, what his vision is for the roster, and what his plan is for the QB position. Most of the good candidates show up with a full plan on how they are going to address all the issues and build the roster. You need to find out what plan all the options have first to see if you think it is a good plan and second because you are getting a fresh set of eyes looking at your organization and suggesting ways to fix it. That can be helpful and provide new ideas even if you don't hire them.
