Number of NFL Draft early entrants continues to decline in the NIL era

This is a good thing. Too many young players were declaring. Now the true upperclassmen, who has played 4-5 years, will be/is the majority of the draft enrollees. It’s better for the NFL this way.
I think this ultimately benefits both the college game and the NFL. Keeping some of these players a year longer in college makes the college game better, as you have a larger group of experienced players competing at that level. Likewise, they also get more experience and are a little less raw when they get to the NFL. So the pool of newcomers xompeting for NFL rosters are also a little better.


I’m not a fan of the current NIL/portal setup. I think it needs some changes so that it’s not a complete free-for-all, highest bidder market that it has become these past few years. But I do think NIL itself is good for both college and pro sports.
