I do agree with this. If you look back 10 years to the 2014 season, its almost comical the difference in quality of quarterback.
If you gave me 2014 and 2024 QBs and told me to pick the top 12, Id have 8 from 2014. Honestly you can make an argument for 9-10.

But its even further than that. The mid tier QBs from 2014, would be upper tier QBs today. Eli Manning, Ryan, Romo, Alex Smith, etc.
So you are right. The depth of above average QBs was far greater 10 years ago.
But Derek Carr still aint leading a team to a SB, or even a deep run. Or even to the dance at all. So you have to keep trying to find a guy who can compete with the top 3-4.
