Sneaux next week [Historic snowstorm in southeast Louisiana on January 21, 2025]

The biggest issue will be if we see any amount of ice prior to having the precipitation turn to snow. Having a layer of ice under the snow will make driving treacherous. And due to the freezing temperatures lingering until near-noon on Wednesday, it may make the elevated roads impassable until Thursday. Desperate people will most definitely try to make it to their places of work and that will create all sorts of mayhem on Tuesday & Wednesday. In such cases it would be better if the authorities just closed the roads and forced people to stay home. But that would make too much sense. Sorry for suggesting it. :covri:
It will depend on the ambient temp. I was listening to the WWL met on the way to work yesterday. He said if it's 29
we'll get snow which isn't bad. He said if it's 30 we'll get a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain which is bad
news. He said 1 degree doesn't seem like much, but in the world of meteorology it's huge.
