A major roadblock to the Saints coaching search could be Derek Carr

Frankly, I think we have invested too little in the QB position for way too many years. We tried to go with reclamation project guys instead of drafting young QBs and hoping to strike gold. The list of late first round QBs that we could have taken that we didn't is depressing, i.e. Jackson, Love, and Hurts. There may be others that I'm missing but while I like Rattler, that's the kind of guy, or even higher ranked guys, that we should have been taking since like 2016.

And we have all realized by now that sometime it's not the QB that is the problem it's the circumstances. We had the perfect circumstances to develop a young QB with Brees and Payton, but Payton only really tried with Hill and Winston. We should have been taking more swings with better assets.

Well, you know they tried in 2017, but got beaten to the punch.

I do think we should have drafted Love in 2020 though. That was the desperation hour, but instead we decided to take a project interior lineman for Brees’ final year.
