I was too young to remember, but the Chargers fired their coach after a 14-2 season ending in the divisional round. Will time repeat itself somewhere else?

I like to think that there's a bit more to the story. The article doesn't mention that either Smith or Schottenheimer didn't think enough of Drew Brees to keep him. They drafted Eli Manning in 2004 and immediately traded him for Phillip Rivers. Then they let Brees go after 2005. I would imagine that they would have started arguing about such collosal blunders. I don't know which of them was responsible.
Rivers was good but not so good to equal Drew Brees + the first overall pick in the draft.
A.J. Smith was great at drafting talent but I've read that he wasn't easy to work with.
Marty Schottenheimer was a good coach who was too conservative to win the big games.
