Elite CB in Lattimore, a good/great CB opposite him and a playmaking nickel. He wanted massive size/speed DE's (Davenport and Turner) that could do things the human body shouldn't be capable of and as a result were always injured. You miss any of those and the other team had a weakness they could take advantage all game long. We never did figure out how to cover a TE. And if the QB had any mobility (which is the direction the NFL is going) it was game over.

LOlL it's not the system it's the players. You don't have to have elite players at every position on D, just a couple sprinkled in with good ones. Yes DA's system relies on a good pass rush but EVERY system does. I'm not defending DA as a HC but his D was a big reason we had success for SP's last yrs here. And it was Payton that pushed for Davenport to the tune of trading up for him NOT DA
