LOlL it's not the system it's the players. You don't have to have elite players at every position on D, just a couple sprinkled in with good ones. Yes DA's system relies on a good pass rush but EVERY system does. I'm not defending DA as a HC but his D was a big reason we had success for SP's last yrs here. And it was Payton that pushed for Davenport to the tune of trading up for him NOT DA

Yeah I don't want Glenn. Moore was a scapegoat for McCarthy, Payton was a Parcell's assistant which is what they were looking for.

As has already been said, in his scheme you don't need elite players at every position but you need them at the most expensive positions. Other coordinators scheme's you can get away with lesser CB's and smaller DE's. Not in DA's. His defense was designed to stop pocket passers, it's why we used to have so much success. You never had to worry about the QB running so you could pin your ears back and rush the passer and your CB's could have their back to them. Now look at every single QB left in the playoffs, they can all run or scramble. Same with our division. It doesn't work anymore.
