Saints planned to interview Mike McCarthy; McCarthy didn’t garner enough interest from Saints and will take a year off

I find it funny that in certain conversations we blame the quarterback for lack of playoff success and in others we blame the coach/organization, depending on what narrative that needs to be pushed.

I’m not willing to put Dallas’ lack of playoff luck all on the shoulders of the head coach.

Bottom line is he created a program capable of consistently getting there, and the whole building needed to dig a little deeper and/or see a bit more matchup and on-field luck.

McCarthy didn’t suddenly forget how to win playoff games.

If McCarthy hasn't forgotten how to win playoff games, then why does he almost never win them anymore in the last 7 or so years? More so, when he plays against playoff caliber teams in the season, why does he often lose?

Its not JUST playoff games. Its anytime he's up against a good head coach. Just look at their schedule. The only good team they beat this year was going 1-1 against the Commanders and beat the Buccaneers (due to a missed field goal by the bucs). Every other good team, they lost... and often embarrassingly so. The results weren't any better last year. Or the year before that, and the year before that and so on.

McCarthy gets out coached all the time by good coaches.
