Saints will interview Mike McCarthy in person during this week, Jan. 20-Jan. 25 [Underhill: McCarthy would have to be the current favorite]

Cooks is very overrated and past his prime. Dallas pass offense couldn’t move the ball when Cooks was relied on as the top option when Lamb goes down or taken away. Dowdle is another system UDFA RB. Jalen Tolbert didn’t have more than 200 receiving yards until his 3rd season in 2024. Tolbert being a “monster” is a huge exaggeration. Mazi Smith was just drafted in 2023 and didn’t have a good rookie season. Ferguson had a solid 2nd year but looked subpar-serviceable in 2024.

Dallas did not have any playmakers outside of Dak, Lamb, Lawrence and Parsons, that are winning games that matter. McCarthy overachieved with those Dallas teams.
Yeah, for all the talk about the Cowboys' talent, they sure aren't all that deep with said talent. They might have one decent to solid player at a given position, but they don't have that throughout their starting group. Their talent has always been somewhat overrated. That's just how it's been at Dallas for decades.

That's more a Jerry Jones issue than anything else.
