Bears hire Ben Johnson as HC to 13M/yr ; former/Saints HC Dennis Allen is Bears DC, former/Saints asst Declan Doyle is Bears OC

i'm not opposed to MM. I view him as the safest hire; probably the highest floor, but probably not the highest ceiling. He'd be a step up. But with that acknowledgement made, the "we could do a whole lot worse than...." mindset is what led the Saints to DA and Derek Carr. Which, in fact, appears to have been worse. I wanna see a homerun swing. The goal isn't improvement, although improvement is required. The goal isn't NFCS division title or playoffs, although they are a necessary by-product of working to achieve THE GOAL. The GOAL is LOMBARDI trophies.

I wanna see the Saints hire the guy they believe is most likely to win a Superbowl! It might be the "safest" candidate, but I want to see a fundamental shift in Saints Executives' philosophy from "it could be worse" to "this guy is gonna win a SB someday.....it might as well be HERE!".

McCarthy has won a Superbowl and been in 4 NFC Championship games. How much higher do you think the ceiling gets? You just hope that one of the sexy young OCs can achieve that whereas you know that McCarthy can.

I get wanting the sexy shinny new thing, but McCarthy isn't settling. He has a very high floor, but he also has a very high ceiling. This hire would be nothing like DA who had failed miserably in his first shot as a HC. The hope with DA was that he would learn from prior mistakes and get better. McCarthy already knows how to win a Superbowl.
