Bears hire Ben Johnson as HC to 13M/yr ; former/Saints HC Dennis Allen is Bears DC, former/Saints asst Declan Doyle is Bears OC

McCarthy has won a Superbowl and been in 4 NFC Championship games. How much higher do you think the ceiling gets? You just hope that one of the sexy young OCs can achieve that whereas you know that McCarthy can.

I get wanting the sexy shinny new thing, but McCarthy isn't settling. He has a very high floor, but he also has a very high ceiling. This hire would be nothing like DA who had failed miserably in his first shot as a HC. The hope with DA was that he would learn from prior mistakes and get better. McCarthy already knows how to win a Superbowl.
I did say I wasn't opposed to MM. Can't disagree with anything you said, although it's been many seasons since he won a playoff game, let alone advanced deep in the playoffs. I'll give him a pass with the Cowboys, because they're the new Raiders (dysfunctional) with Jerry in charge instead of Al Davis. But he was left go from GB for a reason. If Saints see him as a coach capable of a rebuild/reload, I want better than "we could do worse." If they see MM as a SB COACH, I'm good with that. Since none of us can sit in on interviews and report the real situation, I can only HOPE it's the 2nd. I'm not advocating for MM, nor opposed to MM. I'm opposed to the "safe route" and advocating to swing for the bleacher seats. We're certainly talking to enough candidates to get a feel. If MM is the homerun swing, so be it.
