What Head-Coach Candidates Are Dallas, Jacksonville, and Las Vegas Considering

A few quick notes. I am assuming that Glenn will shortly sign with the Jets. After Sunday's games, teams may show more interest in Joe Brady and Kellen Moore. And the information below is based on reports I have seen online.

There were seven teams looking for a new head coach. Now there are four (again, assuming Glenn is going with the Jets). This is what I am reading about the three teams other than the Saints looking a new head coach:

Jacksonville

The Jaguars wanted Tampa OC Liam Coen, but he apparently is staying in Tampa after getting a big contract increase. They are looking at Raiders DC Patrick Graham and Robert Saleh.

Las Vegas

They wanted Ben Johnson. They are looking at Saleh, Pete Carroll, Ron Rivera, Steve Spagnuolo, and Denver DC Vance Joseph.

Dallas

The great unknown. They are looking hard at their OC Brian Schottenheimer. After Sunday, there could be interest in Kellen Moore.

General Note

I am not seeing where the other three teams are showing an interest in Mike McCarthy (whom I do not favor), or in Anthony Weaver (whom I like) or Mike Kafka (whom I would like to know more about).

interviewing (that I can find for now) that are also drawing interest from other teams are Kellen Moore and Joe Brady. The Jags are expected to make a hard push for Brady starting as early as next week since losing out on Coen.

Kafka and McCarthy were two names that came up when coach searches began but have seem to have died out for some reason amongst most teams that were originally reported to be interested.

It almost feels as if the Saints will be left picking a coach that no one else really wants. I think the bigger question is why does no one want McCarthy? The Bears and Saints were the only two teams interviewing for him and the Bears went with Ben Johnson.

Sometimes buzz surrounding a coach cools down because it becomes known through back channels that they’re spoken for and/or that they aren’t interested in certain jobs.

A lot of back channel conversations go on with these things. The entire process isn’t just the public show that gets put on.
