Saints to interview Mike McCarthy in middle of this week, 1/26-2/1 per Pelissero [Underhill: McCarthy would have to be the current favorite]

Ehhhh.... No coach we hire is going to provide any stability in the next two seasons as we try to fix our cap situation and find a young QB.

It's honestly better to find a younger coach that can develop 2-3 years as you rebuild. In 3 years, MM might just get burnt out and retire.

I lean towards giving Joe Brady a chance.

My hope is that McCarthy can right the ship and rebuild the roster with young talent before he decides to retire. Then we can be in a position to hire one of the hot young coaches and give them a real chance to succeed. I'm just not sure this is the idea situation for a young coach with no experience running or building a team.

Still, I'd probably be more excited by a Brady, Moore, or even Kafka hire, but I also see a lot of reasons why McCarthy would make sense for this team in this situation. Sean managed to build a team as a young coach, but he also got really lucky to get Brees and Reggie Bush in his first year. Our next coach isn't going to have that head start.
