I was a senior in HS.....highlights for me were Triumph (if you played guitar then you likely knew and loved Rocket Ric Emmitt), Genesis with Abacab was cementing their move from prog geniuses to some British guys making bad pop music, Ozzy with RR was all the rage with guitar guys as well, Hall and Oates gave me so many reasons/songs to continue to hate them.....Lunatic Fringe was a great underrated song from a band that never had another hit (at least that I knew of)......
But most of all I started my ongoing hatred of Rolling Stone magazine....there was actually an article explaining in painstakingly incorrect detail (from yet another writer who has no idea about guitar playing) telling the world how much better and more dynamic Lindsey (freaking) Buckingham was than Steve Howe.....
Buckingham wasn't even the best to ever play with the Mac (it was Peter Green).....I then decided that the RS mag was best used to wipe....stuff.....Thanks for the trip down memory lane.....
