According to podcaster Timothy J Jones: Aaron Glenn wanted Mickey Loomis removed from GM position in order to take Saints job [mod edit]

According to Underhill, Vrabel, Johnson, and Glenn were the top candidates. You may disagree, but that is what he said.
Right, but those are also 3 guys who have been linked to the teams that hired them for the entire process.

So that was probably an unrealistic list of candidates from jump.

Neither of those three candidates took multiple interviews with other openings.

Brady was basically begging Johnson to give the Raiders a serious look and he opted to take the Chicago job he’s been linked to for months.

Vrabel was essentially a Pat as soon as Mayo was fired - so he didn’t really seriously open himself up to other opportunities.

Glenn has been linked to the Jets job by the media outside of Louisiana for a while as well. Glenn also didn’t take any in-person interviews outside of the Jets.

So we really didn’t have a realistic shot, at any point, for either of those three.
