These ratings mean almost nothing and are mostly just a product of who you played and when, along with how many national TV games you had going into the year, and market size.

The Bears are awful every year, but are in a big market and are always playing in primetime, hence why they’re top 10. As of late, the Giants too, for that matter.



Good thing? Not necessarily.

It just doesn’t mean what you seem to think it means (or want it to mean).
Trying to get a NFL team’s market average is pretty difficult because more often than not, you’re going beyond your market.
Unless you’re the C game, you’re getting shown beyond your market and your opponents market.
It’s not like the NBA and MLB where 98% of the games are just in that market.
