What if they interview Brady and his condition for taking the job is canning Loomis?
From what I have read, other than the Jags fiasco, this scenario has played out one time in the past few years. I think Kyle Shannhan was the only time a first time coach was afforded the opportunity to pick his own GM. And I think that’s for a reason.
To allow a first time HC to make that call, sets that person up as the ultimate decision maker on virtually everything. The owner gives away his/her authority to an unproven commodity and basically puts the direction of the franchise in a single person. You better feel 100% confident you have the next Super Bowl winning coach in your building because you gave away a lot of your authority.
Joe Brady might be a fine coach who fixes this organization, and ML might really need to wind down his career as a GM but that’s a hard pass from me.
