Joe Brady withdraws from Saints HC search

I don’t blame him. He can continue to ride with Josh Allen and maybe have better opportunities in the next cycle.

I love the Saints and want the best for the Saints, but I refuse to fool myself. While many here will always search for the positives and discount the negatives, people who are trying to build careers and put themselves in the best situations possible should be careful in the choices they make. Regardless of what we may want to think, our cap, ownership, leadership and roster sitautions are legitimate concerns. Taking the NOLA job today for the sake of the "it's one of only 32 such jobs" argument, might hurt you tomorrow. Personally, I'd rather wait a year and find a more attractive situation. Brady's value will likely grow by staying with Buffalo for another year. Yeah, I know that didn't happen for Slowick, but I don't think Brady has anything to worry about, especially if he can get a Super Bowl appearance and potentially a win, under his belt.

If he accepted the New Orleans job he'd face a year of imense challenges. Right, wrong or indifferent, after next season, people would begin to question his ability (because next season looks to be very difficult), and he'd still face many challenges going in to year #2. At that point the honeymoon will be over. I'd rather wait for a better situation and give myself a chance to have success sooner.
