I don't hate them, but they are not nuanced at all. They're a hammer to the taste buds.
The problem with IPAs (both the taste and the image) is the overproduction of New England style, which usually tastes like somebody spilled budwiser into ruby red grapefruit juice. The iconic West Coast IPAs are what IPAs should be. Showcase the hops (that’s what preserved ale from Britain to India) but don’t overdo it or make it weird.
