Enough With the HC Hand Wringing - McCarthy Is the Best Option for the Saints

This is where I’m at. 2025 is GOING to be a painful, yet necessary, season. Next year, I have less than zero expectations. I’m all in to do whatever it takes to begin the new era in 2026. Purge the roster, eat money, stockpile picks.

So why hire anyone with an eye on 2026?

Hire Rizzi. 1) An interim turned permanent has a shorter leash 2) Rizzi is wholly unproven as a HC. He managed a situation last year more than he was a hc. 3) I do not think Rizzi is long term HC material, but on the off chance he shows promise, you keep him. Otherwise he can be a 1 and done. A prove it season. For lack of a better term, let Rizzi be the bullet sponge for 2025.

Then we get picks, we reign in the cap, get younger, and probably have a top 5-8 pick. Start the coaching search over next year with a new GM.
