Enough With the HC Hand Wringing - McCarthy Is the Best Option for the Saints

The hire Rizzi and tank if he bombs is where I think the Saints will go if McCarthy turns them down and if remaining top targets (Kellen Moore?) say no thanks as well.

If that happens, then I think it would be a clear signal to ownership that a complete reset (including GM) is required; and I agree that canning Rizzi after 1 terrible season is certainly a possibility (2-15 or 3-14)? But if he goes 7 and 9 do you think this ownership would fire him? Probably not.

I still think McCarthy is a good fit and if he's interested then this is the way to become a winning team with the least pain for the fan base. We won't be a Superbowl contender until we land an elite QB - but that is true for most NFL teams; and there is no way to know when that happens. Picking top of the draft is no guarantee - but top QBs can be had is rounds 2 and later- it's just finding the right one at the right time. Again, I trust McCarthy to pick a QB if there is a good one to be had (at whatever point in the draft or in FA).
