Seahawks hired Saints OC Klint Kubiak as their new Offensive Coordinator
Nothing , it was a joke implying you were Mickey Loomis. Anyway I did some digging around and it is possible for a team to acquire a draft pick from another team if they trade away in a lateral move a coordinator such as Kubiak (OC) to the Seahawks although it's not very common and would depend heavily on the specific circumstances and the perceived value of the coach in the league at the time. So Kubes not having a winning season (Totally not his fault) lost any trade value.
The key points to consider in such a trade would be
- Market value of the coach:
If a team believes their OC or DC is highly sought after by other teams and could significantly improve another team's offense or defense, they might be able to leverage that value into a draft pick in a trade.
- Negotiation leverage:
The team acquiring the coach may be willing to give up a draft pick if they are desperate for an upgrade at that position and see the traded coach as a key piece to their success.
- "Lateral move" consideration:
If the trade is truly considered a "lateral move" where both teams are essentially swapping coaches of similar quality and reputation, it's less likely that a draft pick would be involved.
