I can smell what’s coming after the HC hire

How's about we go with this? When the new HC is appointed, we all set aside those natural urges and inevitable feelings about whether they are the 'right' one and treat it as a clean slate.

Two proposals:-

1. Get behind the new HC and support them, at least initially, rather than dwell on the crimes and misdemeanours of the past. Allow ourselves to hope for the future. Even for a little while.

2. Stop the Loomis gripes, just for a while, and remember that one of the benefits of mistakes is the opportunity to learn from them. Let's maybe agree to believe the Saints have learned a little as an organisation and will get back to following the patterns and processes of successful football teams.

I'm no good at motivational speeches, so take this as you will, but there's something about drawing a line under things that have passed and looking forward.

At least for a day or so?

Can’t get there yet on #2. You cant learn from mistakes when you refuse to acknowledge a mistake has been made.

There is a line of thinking that says Loomis is and has always been just a numbers guy and leaves all the football decisions to the football guys. But then we have him out front making very football specific arguments in favor of Dennis Allen and Derek Carr and others on the roster. He’s gone way outside of the bean counter Lane so he gets to to own the football mistakes too. Personally, I am convinced that we are not going to achieve long-term success again until he has promoted himself onto the golf course.
