Dan Orlovsky about the saints and Kellen Moore

It can't be a 4 year rebuild. If that is what it takes then someone else needs to be fired. If they are serious, it can be done in 1-2 years. Serious drafting of BPA and clearing the cap by year 3 to be able to fill the holes that weren't filled in the prior two drafts. If they aren't serious about a rebuild we are in purgatory no matter who they hire.
It’s about criteria. If you say that a coach has to reach the playoffs in 3 years when you have the oldest roster in the NFL and holes at every position then you’re setting someone up for failure. If you say that you want to see improvement and a coach’s vision for nee and younger players take place and playoffs in 4 years then the coach has a better shot. We have no foundation right now.

We are weak at every position and getting older. We have no identity on offense or defense. The goals for the coach should not be cut throat playoffs in 2 years or else. It should be to develop players and establish excellence.

The biggest thing we need is a franchise QB who can work closely with the HC. We aren’t getting that this year. So we need another high draft pick next year. Having a coach who knows this and can put in the time to lay the groundwork for the next QB will be important.

Also, he will have to make a decision to go with Carr and take on that cap space or move on knowing that his first year will be a struggle. Year one is basically a reset year and year two is a QB development year.
