Spencer Rattler broke the Saints record for most passing yards by a rookie
To be fair, Peyton Manning struggled in his rookie year with passes going high and fast due to poor line play. Second season Saturday and rest of line stepped up and rest is history. Plus having Edge didn't hurt either. I say give the kid a chance. Put him through a camp with Drew or Manning and let him grow naturally. I think he plays with a confidence that I haven't seen in a while.
We had the unquestioned, supreme, all-time, undisputed confidence champion starting for us for a few years on and off in Winston.
See a wide receiver double covered 40 yards down field on the opposite side of the field he knows he can get that ball in there no problem at all.
50% of the time he did the other 50% well at least it was completed to someone.
Right after the touchdown goes the other way he was right back out there ready to throw it again.
Seriously, Rattler does play with a ton of
sensible confidence. He will take some of the same risks but at better moments in the game. Winston was full go on every play like it was the last one to win the game. Rattler takes his shots but at the right moments in gametime, down and distance. He is more situationally aware so to speak.
I don’t believe he is “
the” guy but he does deserve a chance to prove everyone wrong with an NFL grade roster on the field with him, what he had were backups and scrubs.
That said we should in no way be tied to him if someone else shows up in the draft at the right pick for us we should absolutely pull the trigger without hesitation. The more irons we have in the fire the better the odds one of them turns into a samurai sword.
