Saints planned to interview Mike McCarthy; McCarthy didn’t garner enough interest from Saints and will take a year off
For the weeks of desperate bluster here by so many about how McCarthy was 'the adult in the room candidate,' I have peace of mind knowing that the big fraud is out.
McCarthy pouted his way to the Cowboys dumpster because Dallas was not going to renew him for the years and money he delusionally thought he deserved. He had zero leverage in Dallas because he flat out embarrassed the Cowboys in the playoffs the three seasons they made it and did not elevate the Cowboys one bit relative to how much money they invested in Dak. He's been a dead man walking in Dallas all year after Dak's latest season-killing injury.
So why in the world should the Saints have rescued him? Fortunately they didn't, and know that Mickey has an insider, his son, as an executive in the Cowboys front office. Ya'll and $9.95 Nick (a week ago) had MCCARRYTHY IZ FROMT RUBBER FOR SAINTZ CORCH)
McCarthy never even signed up for an interview. Understandable, when his singular competition is the OC he demoted from playcalling. Great look for you, Mike.
Mike's gonna take a year off. Well sure, just like he did in 2019, when he had to study up, because the league had destroyed his famous offense with 2 deep safety coverage. Nothing much has changed. He's a retread, and a self-serving check-casher. Sean Payton has fire in the belly. McCarthy has **other stuff** in the belly.
As for Moore, not signed and sealed yet, but I agree he's the winner (or loser) of Mickey's laughingstock coaching search. He's an unknown who still puzzles me the way he went from a non-descript backup QB in Dallas to instantly the QB coach and OC of that team. Put the Eagles, Barkley, and their Howie Roseman-built 'stars' on every unit team aside, but I think Moore is more apt to run a balanced offense than McCarthy did. His low profile is the right match for the Saints, who are as low profile in the league as a team can get, thanks to Mickey "when you're in the will there's a way" Loomis.
