I was just looking at this some more. Something changed in the way the numbers were showing earlier in the season. The $58 million IS taking the void contracts into account. I still think there will be much more added to it in the coming weeks due to clearing for 2025, so it won't be $58m for very long. In addition, in 2026 we only have 33 players under contract and in 2027 we only have 12. All other players are listed as voids in 2026 and 2027. So while the cap space looks good on paper for 2026, even if the $58m in space were to stand (it won't), you'd have to divide it over another 20 players leaving an average of $2.9m per player.
If we kick the can one more time on some of the smaller contracts, get a couple of aging vets to take pay cuts and get rid of the biggest cap anchor. We could be in pretty good shape come 2027.
